A member of Joseph P. Chaisson Post 41 for five years shares her experience as a veteran of the Global War on Terrorism.
Kristin graduated from Penquis Valley High School and joined the Maine Army National Guard at age 17 in September 20th, 2001.
Attending basic training at Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri, special training followed as an 88M truck driver and combat lifesaver. Kristin was assigned to the 1136th Transportation Company that deployed to Kuwait and Iraq under the command of the Third Army. Upon return Kristin remained in the company for seven years while earning a Bachelors Degree at the University Of Maine.
The highlight of her career occurred in 2006 when she competed and was selected Soldier of the Year for the Maine Army National Guard. Kristin was selected to march in the Memorial Day Parade, Washington D.C. and carry the State Of Maine flag on stage at the Memorial Day concert on the lawn of the Capital Building.
Presently Kristin lives in the Washington D.C. area and is employed by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. | |
