- THOMAS V. TWEEDIE


Thomas V. Tweedie, a member of Joseph P. Chaisson American Legion Post 41 for nineteen years.

Tom joined the United States Marine Corp immediately after high school, June, 1953, during the last days of the Korean War.

Tom attended basic training at Paris Island, South Carolina. The Korean War Peace Accord took place while Tom was still going through basic training. He was selected to attend a supply training school in Jacksonville, Florida.

Upon graduation he was assigned to HQ & Maintenance Squadron 25 at El Toro Marine Corp Air Station, Santa Anna, California. When the 3rd Marine Division returned to El Toro Marine Corp Air Station, Tom was reassigned to the 3rd Division supply until his discharge in June of 1956.

Tom provided electronic parts for air craft among other supply items. The F 85 Saber jets were having problems with the front landing gear and he watched several come into a safe landing without the front wheels. He praised the Marine pilots for their flying ability.
