MILO, Maine – Gov. John Baldacci has traveled to Milo with a promise to work with local officials to rebuild the downtown, which was devastated by a weekend fire.
Baldacci on Wednesday met with the owner of at least one of the businesses lost in the blaze and attended a meeting at town hall where state Economic Development Commissioner John Richardson explained state programs that could help the Piscataquis County town recover from Sunday’s fire.
Fire investigators have said they have questioned a “person of interest” in the intentionally set fire, which spread to five buildings and burned at least a third of downtown.
